Chip's Picks

Dante 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon – Oakville, CA – Wonderfully structured, with blackberry and chocolate on the palate and a lingering smoky finish.  Relatively full-bodied with supple tannins.  A steal for this large of a cab for under $10.

Momo 2008 Pinot Noir – Marlborough, NZ - Soft and round, with fruit forward flavors of bing cherries, blackberries and plums bouncing easily over silky tannins as the finish persists enticingly. Has style and transparency.  Incredible multiple layers unfold over this medium-bodied marvel.

Stephen Vincent 2007 Crimson – Sonoma County, CA - Firm and spicy, with appetizing blackberry, wild berry, pepper, spice and chicory notes that firm up on the finish.  Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.  Drink now through 2012.  WS 86, WE 85

Warwick 2008 Sauvignon Blanc – Stellenbosch, South Africa - This sophisticated Sauvignon Blanc offers aromas of green pepper, citrus and herbs and a balanced, tingling combination of pear and spice on the palate. Perfectly balanced with fresh fruit and mineral crispness.  Other taste notes include kaffir lime and verbena.  A spicy, dry finish adds to the character.  WS 90, WE 89

Goats do Roam in Villages 2005 White Blend – Western Cape, South Africa - Soft and forward, with butter, almond and apple notes followed by a hint of anise on the finish. Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. Drink now.
